A Question from the Customer Comment Site
Why do people
suggest on “REBOOTING” your computer frequently?
Sometimes when your computer is running several different
programs, scanning for viruses, and using the internet,
things can get a little congested. When this happens,
programs sometimes freeze up or stop working for a period of
time. Rebooting will reset the programs running on your
computer and will almost always fix little glitches and
problems when you are doing several tasks at once on your
computer. The technology department here at CRS Inc. highly
recommends you reboot all computers with SubFinder on them
at least once a month. Keep in mind that if you have several
machines with SubFinder installed on them it will require
you to reboot the machines in a particular order. The
following checklist can be used for the routine rebooting of
your computers.
·
Put all necessary SubFinder programs (Job Processor,
WebConnect, SubCast, etc.) in Standby.
·
Close all SubFinder programs. Make sure there are no
minimized SubFinder programs running on the task bar.
·
Close all other programs that may be running on the
SubFinder machines.
·
If you have more than one computer with SubFinder on it,
there will be a necessary order in which the machines
will have to be rebooted. This is because the computer
that houses your SubFinder data must be rebooted first.
Any other computer that is rebooted before the computer
with your SubFinder data may not start up with the
SubFinder programs running properly. In order to limit
the possibility of receiving error messages, the
computers should be rebooted in the following order:
o
Data Center
o
Job Processor
o
Call Processor
o
All other machines
·
After all machines have been rebooted, make sure all
necessary SubFinder programs are open and out of
Standby. (Keep in mind that programs like SubCast, Data
Exchange Pro, and the Report Requester will require you
to manually take them out of Standby in order for them
to properly work.)
These five easy steps should assist in properly maintaining
your SubFinder system. If you have any concerns with
rebooting your machines, please contact your Account
Specialist; he or she will be happy to go through the steps
with you.
